Miami-based SoftBank Latin American fund backs multibillion-dollar Univision merger

    Univision Holdings, the parent company of Miami-based Univision Communications, will acquire the assets of Mexico City-based media company Televisa for $4.8 billion.

    The combined company, Televisa-Univision, will be home to the world’s largest library of Spanish-language media content, including television, digital and streaming platforms, Univision announced late Tuesday. The transaction is expected to close this year.
